1st Split Hunting

Brendan and I went opening morning. Knocked down 2 and lost them in the grass. The next morning Brendan killed his limit in about 20 minutes a little furthur over. 2nd weekend Brendan and I hunted in the weather, litttle ran. Ducks were acting funny, not coming in and acting scared of the decoy's. Knocked down about 8 and only found 2.

Blue-Winged Teal Migration Alert - August 19, 2009

Blue-winged teal are on the move in the Central and Mississippi Flyways. The
first migrants reached Louisiana over the weekend and numbers in the
northern portions of both flyways are above average for this time of year.

New Guitar

I started asking around about decent guitars to upgrade to. My current guitar is a Yamaha FG-75 from 1972 that I bought about 11 years ago. Takamine was recomended by several people. I checked the local music store in Kinder (B & K Music). Looked at several guitars and played a 3/4 size Takamine with pick-ups and a Dreadnought with pick-ups and a built in tuner. I like the color of the 3/4 size but liked the sound and tuner of the full size Dreadnought so I purchased it.

Endtable \ Kennel

Picked up a $15 patio endtable that was solid wood and to the idea to turn it into a nice kennel.

Rain

Got a quarter inch of rain 2 days ago. Picked up an 8' tall pink crape mrytle tree that is starting to look pretty dead. Planted it in front of the A\C unit to provide some shade.

Finishing Compost

Finished compost from this winter. This pile is about 6 inches thick. I shoveled it out the bottom of my compost bin. It was compacted to about a foot high.

Garden Update

Free Roma Tomato Plants

Stopped by Stines in Iowa about 2 weeks ago to look at their veggie plants on sale and saw these roma plants. Went back today to pick some up and they were free.

Audrey Documentary

Watched the premiere of the hurricane Audrey documentary @ the McNeese auditorium. The film was very good. It featured stores from people who survived Audrey including my Dad and Uncle. They are also shown on the documentary's poster.

More Lettuce

My row of lettice is comming up good now. I thinned it out 2 days ago and planted 2 more half rows of a Gormet blend and 2 other types of lettuce along with carrot seeds thrown in.

Again, all fertilizer in the garden again this year is only the compost I have made!

Planted Sweet Corn G-100

Read in the LSU ag book last night that I could still plant corn, so I picked up a scope from the Kinder feed store today. Variety called G-100. I planted 3 half rows on the southeastern part of my garden and plan to add another row in between two of them.
